Tues eve and rollin'....

Right off, take a look at the next venue DeLay plans to put his stamp of approval on. That jackass would cancel anything to get his face in front of the cameras... even a speech to take down the judges. From the NY Times:

"Mr. DeLay has for years been outspoken in criticizing what he sees as judicial activism, and he has led legislative efforts to limit the jurisdiction of federal judges in some areas. Before he changed plans to attend the pope's funeral, Mr. DeLay had been scheduled to be a headline speaker this week at a conservative conference, "Confronting the Judicial War on Faith," sponsored by the Judeo-Christian Council for Constitutional Restoration. "

And of course it's Tues eve, therefore gathering time with the writers. One of them, S, was out this weekend protesting...doing "freeway blogging", which entails holding banners on bridges above the freeways. His said something like: First Defenders...Police Departments. Since their bridge was above a rather tight place on the freeway below, here came the police...and when they saw S's sign, laughed and told the group about the safer better places they could go. S said the greatest number of vehicles below honked in approval and there were very few middle fingers held up.

So M was looking for a subject for his weekly newspaper column and S's freeway blogging made a great one. And since we celebrated three birthdays tonight--J, M, and B--B had brought an absolutely gorgeous chocolate on chocolate three-layer cake. We managed to eat but half. The rest went to the staff at the restaurant.

Got to wondering, if Schiavo's parents had gained control of her, just how many more years would they have continued letting her lie there on that bed? Consensus was that once they died, the brother and sister would have kept her there until either they or she finally died. And if she still was alive after both of them, then..... ? DeLay? Hah. Jeb? Hah. Any of those guys? Hah. She'd have outlived her usefulness, so bye-bye.

And so the gathering went...on to a dozen other subjects. On a warm summer's night. Was 80 degrees in downtown San Diego today... and working day or not, the beaches got hit.
Wrap.
