Justice O'Connor to Retire On Friday,
Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Sandra Day O'Connor announced her pending retirement. She was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1981 by President Ronald Reagan and is the first woman to be a member of the nation's highest court.
