Random House is to publish tie-in books for a new true-stories strand on Richard & Judy. Called "True", the strand will run from October 2005 with the prize being "the chance to work with a world class writer and win a publishing contract with Random House, with a guaranteed advance of £25,000 plus royalties." The winning story will be published by Century/Arrow in May 2006.
Viewers are invited to call a hotline number to give a two-minute pitch for their personal stories - "whether they be of love, adventure, loss or overcoming tremendous odds". Programme makers Cactus will then select eight stories to be filmed for the programme and members of the public will vote for their favourite. The winner will be announced in December 2005.
