On the matter of character...

Sunday eve:

There seems to be a bit of debate about whether or not the Foley/Hastert/Repub situation is getting more attention than deserved, given the other disasters going on nationally and worldwide.

From my perspective, the nation's attention is in the right place. One month from now are the November elections which will put in place the next Houses of Congress. I cannot imagine that the voters aren't considering the candidates' character as well as their announced stands on various issues.

Character not only counts...character is crucial. An individual's character determines whether he/she votes in a way to fatten his/her pocketbook or votes for what is good for the State/Nation/World, for instance.

Thus, a person with bad character cannot be trusted. Foley/Hastert/et al, have proven untrustworthy and should not stand as representives of the American citizens. Just that simple.
