Fox News' Prime Ratings Tumbled in May
You may recall my column last month noting the recent ratings cool-off for Fox News Channel, where, as I put it, "explosive growth appears to be, like the president’s 90% approval rating in the days following Sept. 11, a relic from the first Bush term."
I know I'm risking another cascade of hysterics from right-wing bloggers here, but the May ratings prove this trend has legs. Fox News' average prime-time viewing audience tumbled 6%, to 1.3 million total viewers, compared with May 2005, according to figures from Nielsen Media Research. By comparison, CNN climbed 13%, to 687,000, while MSNBC was also up 13%, to 322,000.
Hey, don't blame me. I'm just the messenger.
Memo to Fox News defenders: Feel better by reliving old times. Try reading this!
