Political ads: How low can they go? Gawd!

From www.mediamatters.org :

Note: Would cause one to think that Fox News desperately wants Dem Francine Busby to lose the battle for former Rep Randy Cunningham (R) CA (now in prison) in CA's 50th District with Repub Brian Bilbray considering the bullshit they spew. Just disgusting:

Garrett falsely framed Busby's support for Senate immigration bill as wanting to give Social Security benefits to illegal immigrants

Summary: On Fox News' Special Report, correspondent Major Garrett falsely claimed that Democratic congressional candidate Francine Busby "endorses providing" Social Security benefits to illegal immigrants. Garrett appeared to be distorting Busby's support for a recently passed Senate immigration bill in the same way Busby's Republican opponent, Brian Bilbray, did. In fact, the Senate's legislation would do nothing to change the current prohibition on illegal immigrants receiving Social Security benefits.

Meanwhile, there's this outrage:

Jon Elliot, radio show host, (link above) talked today (6/03/06) about the extremely nasty political ads currently running by California Dem govenor candidates Angelides and Westly...and mentioned in particular Westly's ads claiming that Angelides was a developer (true) who violated environmental laws in the worst kind of ways (not true). It seems a condominium was built (not by Angelides) on the shore of Lake Tahoe, and realizing that more room for tenents' boats was needed, the condiminium MANAGER took it upon himself to have a larger harbor space dredged out, then dumped the dirt into the lake, which is against the law.

Westly's ads have tied Angelides into this solely on the basis that Angelides owned either all or part of ONE of the condos there. Angelides did not develop the property, did not build the condominium, did not cause the dredging, did not dump that dirt into the lake, and in fact, had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the whole miserable affair.

Seems as though Westly's ad people are Rove knock-offs. How desparate for a job does one have to be to completely lose sight of what it means to be an honorable opponent? Sheesh!!!

Wrap...
